Every pet owner wishes to keep their furry friend by their side forever. However, unforeseen circumstances arise, leaving some unable to take care of their beloved pets. It’s a heartbreaking reality that many animals end up in shelters due to these situations. It’s important to remember that these innocent creatures deserve our love and support, even if their owners can no longer provide it.
Frequently visiting the animal shelter in Charlotte, North Carolina, Chrissy Elder keeps an eye out for any animals in need of help. During one of her visits in July 2022, she came across a charming pit mix with droopy ears that looked like a piglet. Upon inquiry, she learned that the dog’s owner could no longer care for him due to a health issue and had surrendered him to the shelter.
When Chrissy came across the helpless dog in the kennel, she noticed that his skin condition was getting worse with each passing day because the shelter was unable to look after all the animals. This tugged at her heartstrings and she knew she had to step in to rescue him. After taking him to the veterinary emergency room, the poor pup was diagnosed with a painful skin condition and given the nickname Piggy.
Following this, Piggy was taken to a foster home managed by the charitable organization, Forgotten, Now Family Rescue. There, she was given medical baths twice each week to overcome a dermo-dex infection. Remarkably, within a month of rehabilitation, Piggy’s condition significantly improved. Her body, head, and limbs gradually reappeared with patches of fur growing back.
Piggy underwent a transformation from being gloomy to becoming joyful and lively. Throughout the day, he indulged in playtime and even expressed his love for everyone around him without hesitation. In September, a woman reached out to adopt Piggy, and he now resides in a happier environment with a caring family.
